HAMILTON DRILLS MODEL 1206 HV POWER SUPPLY

WARNING! This vendor has been selling this power supply on the internet and on ebay, promoting it as "usable for Lifter Experiments". This is completely false advertising and he has been told about it, but he does nothing to change his description.

This is evidenced in two of his feedback listings (you really gotta dig deep to find them, he's got alot of feedback) and from various searchable Listserv's testimonials (Blazelabs, JNaudin, etc..)

Unfortunately, we purchased one and found this out the hard way. In a lifter previously shown to work on a flyback transformer (see previous page) out of a 21" monitor, it completely failed to budge, much less even create a hint of ozone.

This HV supply does indeed generate variable high voltage with a wide 90mm arc, but not in a steady DC format. It is a true resonant tesla coil, thus voltage alternates creating varying AC wavefronts.

We are in the process of purchasing HV diodes to rectify the voltage, but as the supply's design shows, amperage may still be an issue. Check back soon to see if the diodes worked at all.

This supply is basically just a souped-up taser-style supply. And in case you were wondering, Taser supplies don't work either. We tried :)

This page gives a detailed report of how this supply is assembled so that you can avoid it in the future, or perhaps make modifications to let it work. It is reasonably priced at $100. Please contact me at mike@designwizardry.com if you manage to get it to work.
